PVD Cello Fest, May 17 and 18

Cello Fest Kicks off with an exciting evening of multi-genre cellos! Jake Sokolov, James Perretta, Flannery Brown, Prior Panic, Rob Bethel perform sets of folk music, alternative songs, experimental music, improvised music, and music for viola da gamba! Additionally a trio of Isabel Castellvi, Kamyron Williams, and Zan Berry will premiere a groovy new cello trio by local composer Tom Swafford!

Cello Fest concludes with a night of traditional and original Brazilian music featuring our headliner, Kely Pinheiro! Kely will do a solo set of music for cello and voice and she will be joined by a cello ensemble, playing a range of traditional Brazilian music, including a performance of Bachianas Brasileiras no. 5 for 8 Cellos and Soprano.

 

 

All Cello Fest Events are based on a sliding scale of $10-20, paid at the door

ABOUT US

Started in February 2020, the PVD Cello Festival is an event committed to enriching the music scene in Providence by presenting concerts and educational workshops that celebrate the versatility of the cello. By hosting concerts in different types of venues and showcasing the instrument in many different styles and genres, PVD Cello Fest aims to build new connections within the community and foster curiosity about what is possible on the cello.
