Fundamentals of Arabic Maqam on String Instruments with 2026 guest artist Naseem Alatrash, Grammy nominee and composer (alatrashmusic.com

Old-time jam with Sammy Wetstein, open to the public

11:30- 3:30 pm

Performances featuring Rob Bethal, Sophie Chang, James Perreta, Esther Rogers & Roseminna Watson, and Sammy Wetstein. The day culminates in a performance of pop, jazz, and original tunes by Tom Swafford’s string group, String Power!

Cello Fest concludes with a performance featuring Grammy nominated cellist and composer Naseem Alatrash and percussionist Tareq Rantisi. Naseem will be presenting music from his latest Album "Bright Colors on a Dark Canvas, as well as various selections of compositions from the Arab music tradition.

ABOUT US

Started in February 2020, PVD Cello Fest is an event committed to enriching the music scene in Providence by presenting concerts and educational workshops that celebrate the versatility of the cello. By hosting concerts in different types of venues and showcasing the instrument in many different styles and genres, PVD Cello Fest aims to build new connections within the community and foster curiosity about what is possible on the cello.
